RESUMO

PURPOSE: To develop a specific self-management scale applicable to patients with indwelling double-J tube in urolithiasis, and to test its reliability and validity. METHODS: The construction and validation of our scale involved three stages. First, an initial version of the questionnaire was formed through literature analysis, group discussions, semi-structured interviews, and the Delphi method. Second, a pre-survey was conducted with 20 urolithiasis patients with indwelling double-J stent placement to test their understanding of the initial questionnaire items and its acceptability. Finally, a formal survey of 234 patients with indwelling double-J tube for urolithiasis was conducted, and the scale was tested for reliability and validity. RESULTS: After the three stages, a specific self-management scale for urolithiasis patients with indwelling double-J tube was developed, consisting of 30 items across five dimensions with a cumulative contribution rate of 52.541%. The content validity index for item level ranged from 0.8 to 1, and the content validity index for the questionnaire level was 0.93. The correlation between each item and its dimension was > 0.4. The Cronbach's alpha coefficient for the overall questionnaire was 0.910, and the Cronbach's alpha coefficients for each dimension ranged from 0.672 to 0.865. The split-half reliability of the overall questionnaire was 0.864, and the split-half reliabilities for each dimension ranged from 0.659 to 0.827. The test-retest reliability of the overall questionnaire was 0.840, and the test-retest reliabilities for each dimension ranged from 0.674 to 0.818. CONCLUSION: The specific self-management scale for urolithiasis patients with indwelling double-J tube has good reliability and validity, and it is a reliable and effective tool for evaluating and assessing the self-management level of patients with indwelling double-J tube in urolithiasis.

RESUMO

AIM: To evaluate healthcare workers' knowledge, attitudes and practices level of prevention and management of catheter-associated urinary tract infection. DESIGN: A mixed-methods systematic review. METHODS: Searches were conducted in CINAHL, Cochrane Library, EMBASE, Medline, PubMed and Web of Science databases. Limited literatures published in English before 20 June 2021. Data were analysed and synthesized using thematic analysis by two authors. RESULTS: Thirty-four articles were included. Healthcare workers' unbalanced varied knowledge level, positive attitudes, undesirable practices of catheter-associated urinary tract infection's prevention and control were identified. Barriers of healthcare workers' knowledge, attitudes and practices level of infection prevention included heavy workload, understaffing, physician variability in indwelling urinary catheter (IUC) practice by diagnosis, nursing variability in IUC placement technique, poor relationship and nurse's poor documentation. Leadership, better education, teamwork, technique training and information technology support, advocacy for nurse-driven protocol and IUC removal reminder were considered as facilitators.

RESUMO

In this paper, we have explored the experience of studying part-time nursing master degree students and provided a basis for improving the training of domestic part-time nursing master degree students. Using phenomenological research methods, we have conducted face-to-face and semistructured interviews with 14 part-time nursing graduate students, including postgraduate motivation, obstacles, gains, and expectations after postgraduate study. Part-time nursing master's graduate students are mostly motivated by promotion, self-improvement, solving clinical problems, and role models; barriers to entry include role conflicts, time pressure, economic pressure, curriculum settings that cannot meet needs, unclear responsibilities for training process management, and personal value (cannot reflect, etc.). Study gains include enhancing scientific research confidence, stimulating learning interest, and increasing professional identity. In the training of part-time nursing master's students, we should correctly guide students' learning motivation, mobilize social support, and solve students' learning obstacles. The curriculum of part-time nursing master's students should be targeted, along with establishing a training management system jointly directed by the training unit and the employer, improving the career planning of nursing master's students, and making a good connection with the training of senior practical nurses.
